Baptisms

The Parish Church of Saint Mary Bridgwater

Baptism ( Christening)

Since the time of Jesus himself people of all ages have come to be baptised, and Jesus himself was baptised in the river Jordan.

Baptism is the start of our living relationship with God. It is the first step we make, or our parents and god parents make on our behalf, in response to God’s love.

For all involved it is a joyful moment when we rejoice in what God has done for us in Christ.

The wider community of our church, as well as our family and friends, welcome the new Christian, promising support and prayer for the future.

If you are interested in being baptised, or having your child baptised, then please contact Rev. Trish Ollive (see Contact Us). She will then arrange to meet you and your family to discuss what is involved and the promises that you will be required to make.

Baptisms normally take place at the main 9.30 am Sunday service, six or seven times a year.
