Regular Worship & Services

In late June 2017 we open our doors again as a church in the centre of Bridgwater.  It is our intention that our building will be open for a period of time every day.  Our formal worship will develop over the coming months but as we explore a new space and new equipment we will widen and deepen the type of worship and hospitality we offer.

From June 2017 we will have the following services

8am Holy Communion on a Sunday.

This is a service using the Book of Common Prayer.  It is a ‘said’ service.  We have created service booklets so that those who are not familiar with this style of worship can still participate and not feel excluded.  The original BCP books are still available.

9.30am Parish Communion on a Sunday.

This is our main service and we use a Common Worship format.  The service varies slightly depending on the time of year. Whilst the liturgy is focused mainly on adult worship, people of all ages are welcome and there are resources for younger children.

Once every two months instead of our Parish communion we have a Baptism service which is child and family friendly.  This is open to all.  If you wish your child or a member of you family to be baptised please contact our Vicar. Until the end of the year we have a Baptism service in July, September and November.

Every month we have a Family Service at 11.15 on the first Sunday for 30 minutes followed by a craft activity and refreshments.  This broadly caters for primary age and pre-school children. For full details please see our Family Service section.

During the week we have a traditional BCP

midweek Holy Communion on a Thursday morning at 11am.

We will be having regular Morning Prayer times.  These will be published when we return to our church.

It is our intention to host a number of ecumenical events and become a Dementia friendly environment.

St Mary’s has always been host to a number of community and civic events from weddings to funerals, from Carol Services to school and college celebrations.  This will continue and, we hope, expand over time.

When we have developed our space fully we will hire the main body of the building out for functions, events and exhibitions.
